Hello, I am part of an FRC team and we have gotten new Shapeoko HDMs to cut out stuff. However when we cut polycarb on it, the machine keeps on shocking itself, we think, and bringing up the error code ERR06. So I was wondering if anyone knows what this code means and how to fix it? We are assuming that a way to fix it would be to ground the machine but I want to make sure that is the proper thing to do, and if this community could help me fix it and do it in the proper way. So if anyone has any advice for help that would be really useful. Thank you

GRBL Alarm Code 6 - Homing fail
This indicates that the machine was reset while a homing cycle was running. The machine position will be lost, but you can re-initialize the machine to clear this error.
While not linked from that error, you may find:

That said, check in w/ the folks at support@carbide3d.com — most of the people who work w/ the HDM are on the west coast, so will be waking up and checking in presently.
Huh. I’m also on an FRC team – we’ve used our HDM to cut polycarbonate and other pland have not had any issues.
There are a few places on the HDM where the machine is grounded – one of them is on the back of the carriage for the spindle. You might use a multimeter to see if that is connected to ground.
