I forgot to check on the engraving, it looked like it was engraved but wasn’t, I’m wondering if it’s possible or to fix it. If not I can just make another one but is it possible ? (The Top fin is missing)
I would pick 2 points on the engraving, like the top corners of the "E"s, and use those to align and zero it. Then just rerun the engrave path, bumping it down if necessary.
I have not had to do what you explain above. How would one re-align to the two points of the E’s? Would this be using the tool path/spindle and if so how would this be performed?
I can see putting the project back to its original reference position (fence or clamp fixture if not moved).
If your setup/fixture is still there you should be able to set it up the same way.
I would double check by picking 2 points in CC and noting the coordinates. Then use a vee bit to center on those points and check the XY position to make sure the engraving will be aligned.
You can move to a point & type in that value instead of clicking “Zero axis”
You can use any points that are easy to center on. I just picked 2 that are spread apart & have sharp corners.
I understand using the same fixture again if not moved, like a “flip” fixture etc.
I guess I haven’t noticed in CC in the design or tool path tab where the actual X & Y coordinates are referenced. Being new at this I guess I’m more focused on the design elements and the X/Y scale I setup. I see them in CM on several of the different screens and certainly the zero bit page.
I can see where this process would provide a fairly accurate reference for re-cutting a tool path.
I”ll have to look this morning.
Thank you.
I I was able to fix it. The issue was with setting the zero point I initially got it at the corner of the fin, which was realllyyyy hard to see with it being black. I carefully aligned the corner of the fin with the tool path zero and used the engraver to set all zeros. To make sure, I ran the tool path above the stock without making contact. Once I saw that everything looked nearly perfect, I ran the full project, and it came out GREAT. Thanks for the help and the idea

If you use the measure tool, and click on a node it will show you the coordinates.
Setting it back up is a matter of alignment AND location. That’s why I suggested 2 points.
Glad you got it sorted. ![]()
Gotcha, I was not even thinking about that route for the coordinates.
Thanks again for taking the time to explain.
