How do you join vectors in CC. Friend drew cartoon and trying to make it into a vector to cut. here is file
ej cartoon test.c2d (1.2 MB)
thanks for any input
This really depends on how you want to cut it. If you’re just engraving the lines they don’t have to be closed. Just select them all & use the Contour (No Offset) path.
If you’re trying to pocket out areas to fill with epoxy, then you need to enclose each colored area with it’s own vector. You will probably have a mix of closed (by color) vectors, and open vectors that just get engraved/scribed.
I would start by using the node editor and joining the vectors manually.
If you have the original Artwork you could try to do edge detect.
A perverse thought crossed my mind when I saw the pig holding up sausage on the stick. The pig is celebrating being a cannibal. If you have ever been around pigs you wold know they eat almost anything but I have never seen them eat one another. I know that is off subject but just struck me as weird or at least I am weird for thinking that way. However I am a member of PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals.
They will eat their piglets,
Thank you for your ideas, I will try both ways, testing and learning is always an adventure. Thank you.
I did try join vectors on CC but could not get it to work for me. I’ll keep trying! Thank you.
Join Vectors will only join the end of one vector to the end of another vector, or itself. And the 2 ends need to be really close. (0.001" - 0.025mm??). If they don’t join, zoom in on the ends & move them closer together.
You can’t join the end of one vector to the middle of another vector.
You can also use the “create poly line” and just trace over the areas you want to make a vector.
CC will automatically snap the new poly line to a node. Just take your time and hover over the existing vectors as you do your tracing. It will snap to the nearest node. When it snaps to the node just left-click and CC will place a new node on your poly line to match the vector you are hovering over.
