Hi guys, I am trying to design a knife scale. I’ve attached the file. Basically I would like to pocket the actual webs and spider but right now its pocketing the areas outside of that? I want it to pocket the opposite of what it is doing right now. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

This is a v6 file, which is no longer supported.
Opening it in v7:
and re-saving as a v7 file eventually allows it to open:
To carve only the web and spider logo you need to make them into closed regions — the best way to do this is to get a slight inset:
Select the inset and the design:
Center them:
Then use Trim Vectors:
to isolate down to only what is wanted:

Attached as a v8 file.

Thank you so much for all your help! Ill follow step by step
Edit the toolpath & “Select Current Vectors”
Shift select the outside vector to add it to the selection
Click Change Vectors & select Use Current Selection
The toolpath looks like this because the tool is too big to fit in the spiderweb
Change to a 1/32" tool & it works. Oops, except it misses a bit of the spider…
Works nicely with V-carve

This looks great, I think maybe It also wasn’t working for me because I was using the 1/16" bit. 1/32" bit sounds so small scared to break that thing lol
V carving if you have a tool suitable to the material in question will help with that.
I use #122 1/32" all the time and have never broke it yet. I carve in almost exclusively hardwood. Here is an example of the 1/32" #122 and a 15 degree vee bit. The object is the top of a cremation urn I am making.
Here is the actual project with 1 coat of dewaxed shellac. The material is peruvian walnut and the urn is segmented woodturning.
The letters were .75" high.
Here is the urn before I finished turning it. I used a 3" bronze threaded ring to attach the lid to the body of the urn.
I get those from Ruth Niles Bottle Stoppers and they come in various sizes. They are great for lidded boxes.
