How to unlink Bezier handles?

Hope this is a dumb question, but I haven’t found it in the online manuals/help.

How do you unlink the point handles for reshaping a Bezier curve? By default the two handles are the same length, get longer or shorter in unison with each other, and moving one handle rotates the other.

I traced an imported image and some of the points have handles that move independently of each other allowing much better control of the resulting curve. How do I toggle that behavior on and off

Hold down the alt/option key as you drag.
