How to update software/firmware?

Hey folks, life got in the way of me using my shapeoko for the past year and a half or so. I’m dusting it off now, and figuring I should update carbide create/motion, and maybe even firmware?

I can download the new software packages, but I don’t want to lose all of my settings. Do I just install the new version over the old? Do I need to uninstall the old before installing the new? Is there another method (I vaguely remember there being a Carbide Updater?)

Where do I find firmware info and how can I tell if I need to update or not?

Thanks

If a current Carbide Motion will not connect, complaining version of Grbl prior to 1.1 are not supported by it, then you have 0.9 and need to update, otherwise, you’re good to go.
