I have been asking questions about the belts when building the Shapeoko 4 Standard.
Last night I gained control of my problem with belts for the first time. I tried loosening belts and measuring gantry distance from the frame and noticed the gantry was finally coming into square with my Y-rail end plates.
I have had to learn a lot from reading to get this far.
There is no way the Shapeoko 4 is easy to build with belts being so counter intuitive.
To get belts at a tension so the machine can make undistorted features in work pieces one would have to worked on belt driven CNCs dozens of times.
Beginners need scales, an app for their phone that measures pitch, and caliper.
Sorry to break that news but newbies should not go by helpful videos by Carbide 3D or tutorials. You need every single tool and dedication to succeed.
