Im a recent graduate from a fine woodworking school in northern Maine and I pulled the trigger on this machine and setup, as well as bits and the table itself for $700
The gentleman who sold it to me is retired and no longer had the manual or any info about the model and associated hardware.
Ive wanted to dip into using a CNC machine for quite a while and any info for a total newbie would be appreciated. I also have no clue what model it is I just know it has the Z-plus upgrade.
a Maintenance Kit will allow you to rebuild the machine to pretty much like new.
Note that we offer a replacement button for the BitSetter (but I usually just file off any burrs, then fill divots w/ a metal-impregnated epoxy such as J.B. Weld, I’m cheap).
Welcome!
I also bought a “new to me” S03 XXL a couple of years ago. I think you will be very happy
with it as you venture down this path. The Z-Plus is an awesome upgrade for this machine!
Watch this forum closely, and take advantage of the Search function to find post for specific
topics, issues or solutions. I have had countless issues resolved simply by reading a post
of someone that had the same issue previously. Very helpful!
Don’t be afraid to ask questions here…LOTS of experience and EXPERTS on these machines and the various software packages (Carbide Create, Carbide Motion, Fusion 360 ect).
YouTube is also very informative, subscribe to the Carbide3D channel and you will see a lot of very interesting videos and instructions.
LASTLY…Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and just be ready because mistake will happen…but there is a WORLD of learning to be had from the mistakes!
Have Fun and post some updates on your journey, it’s always COOL to see the things different people create.
