I’ve noticed that I have a few . SVG files that when I import the . SVG, I get the prompt to trace the image which I click… Yep… Trace it! But then I just get the workspace… And nothing happens.
It was originally a .jpeg and I clicked save as .SVG in Inkscape. Not certain if it may be that it truly didn’t convert to .SVG maybe???
Please compress the file “gingerbread.svg” into a .zip archive and upload that here or e-mail it to support@carbide3d.com, or let us know the link of where you downloaded it from.
I often use Inkscape to convert bitmap images to svg. Everytime I import an Inkscape svg I get the question asked. I just say no.
Inkscape is free and open source. In the menu you can adjust the sensitivity to eliminate unwanted items to a point. So give Inkscape a try. There are tons of tutorials on youtube on how to use Inkscape which is a very power free program. I also create svg in Affinity Designer and when those are imported I get the same splash of do I want to trace the image. I guess it is just the default when you import an image?
I did try to run the import and selected NO to the tracing option to verify behaviour and the file ultimately just does not open and I see nothing that even shows that an attempt was made to open it.
Also just to add to hopefully clarify… When I select import, choose the image file I do get the prompt to trace the image. When I select to trace the image… It acts like I clicked on cancel or NO. The tracing window does not open at all.
My apologies if I didn’t explain the issue correctly.
