I’ve noticed that ever since I upgraded from the standard router to the C3D VFD that I’m noticing a lot more ‘busy’ hangs when running programs. It’s never while cutting is being executed but generally between toolpaths or leading up to a tool change. FWIW I’m running on an M1 MacBook Air.
Is this kind of behavior for the machine a concern or is it normal with the different hardware?
I recently replaced my router with a 100v, 800 w spindle motor and was getting motion carbide dis-connects @ start up. I then connect the VFD to a different 110v circuit in the garage, that eliminated the dis-connects and the machine work perfect.
I have ordered an AC line filter connected between the VFD Plug and the VFD to clear up the noise being generated by the VFD.
Not sure this is your problem but thought I would let you know my experience.
I have a Shapeoko 3 I’m really like how quite the motor is :>
I do have my VFD and the control board on the same circuit, but I’ve never had disconnects. Crazy how many gremlins can live in these high frequency tools.
Sorry, I was reading busy as being dis-connects. In your case the program stops for some length of time and then continues cutting. My system never stops when cutting with a router or the VFD (2 circuit connection) excepted for tool changes. I’m running on a PC.
I would contact Carbide support since the c3d VFD is there product.
I’ll probably reach out, but it’s not that it stops in the middle of a cut, it’s just after I load a tool, or after I kick off the program. It might just be a quirk, but who knows.
