A washing machine lid safety switch is basically the same as a limit switch. Go to your local appliance shop and bring your broken one.

If anyone does this, please let us know which switch works and we’ll add it to the wiki.

Great except that most appliance store I’ve dealt with charge way too much for their spare parts.

Yeah, but it’s a more workable option then the now all-but moribund Radio Shack.
