What do we have to do to get software for an iPad? I’d be willing to do things to make it happen

If your IPAD is running MAC OS it should work. However a lot of tablets that run Android do not work with CC/CM software. Similarly I have Affinity Designer and they have a separate program for IPAD tablets. So it depends on what the OS is on the device. Regular MAC OS 11 works on c3d software but only works with MAC OS and MS Windows 10/11.
If you are wanting to move files thae put them on a thumb drive if there is a usb port and move to another computer MACOS/PC. You can also email the file as an attachment to yourself and download from another computer.

Unfortunately Ipads don’t run MacOS, they run a mobile specific OS that isn’t compatible with MacOS programs.
While not a perfect solution, i do at least run Carbine Motion from an iPad but not directly. I Have a headless mac mini mounted under my machine and use VNC client on an iPad mounted on side of table to drive it.
