I am looking at making some simple signs without having to use paint or Oromask.
I run a cabinetry business now and a signage business in the past. I am not aware of a layered MDF/HDF. I have only ever seen that in plastics. If you want to use MDF/HDF I think you are stuck with paint.
There is several competitors to ForesColor. It has color all the way through. Its denser than MDF and a little water resistant, but it will swell up when immersed.
If no option exists, would it be possible or suit your needs to create your own? Perhaps a solid color laminate layer glued up on a sheet of MDF? I’m just thinking of the countertop solutions available. That might give you a creative option not currently in the market?
This material is not solid enough for me. Doesn’t look good when cut. I think I need HDF.
From all the replies I think you are right. Back to what I have been doing. Paint and or Oromask.
There are almost always other options.
What kind of “simple signs” are you looking to make?
Ones like this without having to paint or use Oracal.
Are you trying to save money or time? You can’t get much faster, more versatile, and cheaper than painted MDF.
I agree. I was looking for two colors and somewhere in the back of my mind remembered something. Obviously it was HDPE. Back to my original methods.
Thank you to everyone for your input.
