Is there a tutorial vid on how to install VFD 3rd party to work with SO5pro?

I cant afford the 80mm kit $1250 as of now… I want to use chepaer 2.2kw spinkle and have seen successful forum members post about it. I just have not found a video or link on this topic. Can anyone help steer me to the right llinks to purchase wires and connecters and splicing things ?

Thanks so much for all your help when you guys post so much helpful answers .

Welcome to the forum, I’m afraid I can’t help you here on your request.

I do have the 65mm spindle that does what I need it for, unless you just have to have 1/2” tooling the 65mm should serve you well.

You don’t state specifically why you “need” vs “want” an 80MM spindle.

I’m with Bruno229 and am following this as well. I just received the 5 Pro and want to use the 80mm spindle. Thank you all in advance for any assistance.

Fun fact^ pre-80mm VFD offering I asked about if it was going to be available and when, they wouldn’t tell me so I asked about using a non C3D spindle and they said it would void the warranty.

I believe the so5pro uses a similar board to the nomad3. I’m running a 1.5kw spindle and external vfd. I tapped into the pwm port on the board. I used the ground, and pwm pins. I did need to get a pwm to 0-10v converter as my vfd only accepted a 0-10v signal. Everything else was a strength forward spindle install.

If you have a problem unrelated to the things you plug in, you should be fine. It would look real bad to deny a warranty claim for an unrelated problem based on what you plug into your machine. If they don’t ask, don’t tell. Technically, it is illegal to deny warranty coverage for the sole reason of the end user using aftermarket parts on consumer products in the United States. They would have to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem.

If the problem is related to plugging something into your machine that then breaks it in some way, I would expect that they would not cover it under warranty.

Yeah I kinda assumed it was some sheisty sale closing tactic.

They aren’t actively trying to be deceitful. They are trying to keep their support costs under control since they offer support for free. The sad truth is that the law is rarely enforced and therefore most companies don’t know or don’t care about it. If it was enforced, most warranties would likely be much less encompassing or go away all together. Free support would also likely go away in most cases.

In the end, warranties are really only as good as the integrity of the company offering it anyway. Most people don’t have the resources to take some company to court if they don’t honor a warranty as required by law. I have found Carbide 3D to be quite good in all of my interactions with them. I expect they routinely help people even when they don’t have to.

did you get your cord from website called pwn CNC?
i see they have a pigtail wire for the controller to chinese spindle vfd

thankls for the heads up

can you show me what a converter for 0-10v looks like on ebay?

This is what I used from Amazon. Again if your vfd accepts a pwm signal you won’t need it.

FWIW it is possible to set the voltage limits of a “0-10V” analog input on a VFD to any range within that 0-10V, so you don’t need to step the (typically 5V) PWM up to 10V to make it work. IMO less signal conversions are better.

I made some notes on a related process which should help you along this path, including the programming of a Delixi VFD:
