Had CCV6 and Motion Blg 622 instaledled on laptop. Through stupidity, managed to lock up laptop so Windows 10 would not start, options were to reload Windows, saving all my files.
After all this was finished u ended up with Windows 11 Home on laptop.
Reloaded CC V652 and Motion 622. I had previously done some experimenting with building my own tool library. When I tried to put my tool spreadsheets back in “windows\users\ appdata\local\tools” I could not locate the folder anywhere on the pc.
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling CC with same results. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
If your files were saved you were lucky. I help people with dead laptops and I have never had the reload the OS and save files work.
On my own laptop I have Norton 360 and leave a USB solid state drive attached via a hub all the time and get backups automatically.
In the past I worked on Apple computers and often I had to replace hard drives. We had CDs to restore the OS with all the bloat ware that Apple sells. So when I finished the computer was like the day they bought it. People would ask me where their personal files were and said you restore your backup to get them back. Surprisingly most had no backup.
The moral to the story is back often. Of course that advise only works if you want your files preserved.
I have not done this in a couple of months but you can go to Microsoft.com and download a current patched version of your Windows 10/11 and load that via flash drive and/or make a DVD to restore a current version of Windows. That saves a lot of time when restoring the OS because you dont have to use your original backup of the OS and then wait wait for updates. It still takes hours to restore and get the computer back up and running. It requires a minimum amount of processor to upgrade to Windows 11 but if your hardware is minimum required you can upgrade free from Windows 10 to 11. However if your laptop is over about 3 years old you likely dont have the hardware required to upgrade to Windows 11. Windows 10 will be around for a few more years. When I got a new HP Laptop it had Windows 11. I hated it at first but eventually got used to the new OS.
