Joining Vectors Carbide create

I’m attempting to make a rectangle with the curved top but am not sure the best way to achieve this in carbide create.

So far I am creating a seperate rectangle and a curved line and attempting to join the two but without success. Attached here is a photo.

I’ve tried manually creating a curve by adding and editing nodes of a rectangle but it never comes out symmetric. So far creating a curved line is the only way I’ve been able to achieve a curve that looks acceptable but I can’t seem to figure how to join with the rectangle to make one shape.

Anyone have any pointers or advice? I’m sure I’m missing an obvious technique or feature to better achieve this goal.

This isn’t a case for joining vectors in terms of the Carbide Create command:

that command only applies to one or more open paths.

The command to use here would be either a Boolean operation, for example Boolean Intersection:

which would result in:

Or, if you had a second shape which had a negative version of the curve, say:

you would select the rectangle, then shift-click on the negative to add it as the key object (dashed highlight) and Boolean Subtract:

Or, you could Node Edit the rectangle to impose the desired curve:

and drag the nodes to the desired locations:

and toggle the corners to Smooth Nodes:

alt-drag the off-curve nodes in question:

to arrive at:

Fantastic! thank you.

When you say “alt-drag” the curves in question are you simply dragging the black handle with the line on it?

Yes, hold down the alt key and drag to create an asymmetric node.
