JTech 24w Laser Side Mount Smoke Extraction

All of the smoke extractors Ive seen are for the onefinity cnc. There was another post here where someone had designed a smoke extractor but it was for the HDM and required the new dust collection extension that runs behind the spindle (forgot the name…sweepy pro?).

Any ideas on how to rig up some type of smoke extractor holder that will be efficient for the side mounted JTech on the Shapeoko 5 pro?

I am running an inline fume extractor fan, 400 CFM, that should be more than adequate for clearing smoke but I cant get the dang thing close enough to the laser head. My only effective solution is to hold it and stand there, but some of the jobs I am going to run are long.

Please help!!

This is what I saw in a different post. I need something like this but for the 5 pro that has the side mount.

I’ve seen that, but I was concerned about its effect on my Z. I’m not using a 20 or 40 watt JTech. I need to stay close to the focus range of my 7 watt; about ⅛".

I’m having minimal success by using my normal PWNCNC dust boot without the removable front brush section. Based on this experience, I believe you could create one like the photo without the enclosing front section.
