Well, after weeks of research, I just placed my order for my 4x4 5 Pro with a 65mm spindle kit. Being in Canada, I’m guessing it will take a little while to arrive. I guess it will give me some time to get my table built and do some more reading on the forum which looks like will be a great resource!
Hey, welcome aboard! Im Canadian as well and went with a shapeoko 4 pro a few years ago and have really enjoyed it. If i recall it arrived pretty quicky. You might get hit with a courier brokerage fee, i did at least. And you’re right, this forum is an incredible resource with lots of super knowledgeable folks always willing to help.
Thanks! Yes, I am expecting to pay for brokerage, really don’t want too though!
Took some inspiration from other members builds (pretty much copied) and made my table yesterday. Went with the recommended retractable wheels and added a bit more space to the front of the table to hold tools etc. I also designed the front overhang so I could cut it off and still have a finished front edge. I tend to set stuff down and leave it so I will see if I find the extra space usable or if it just collects stuff. Finished dimensions are 62" wide by 70" deep and 32" tall.
I also added the adjustable height standoffs. The roller are good for moving, but the table moves when you do not want to.
I was looking at those as well. I wasn’t sure how they would would be for stability. Is there any movement within the screw adjusters when holding the full weight of the table? I also have my retractable wheels set so when they are in the up position, the bottom of the leg rests fully on the floor but I would still have to shim each leg to gain a totally flat table top as the floor in my shop is not flat.
I didn’t want to fuss with the wheel heights ( as well as it moving ) for the retractable wheels.
I had tried to cut legs “perfectly” before, that was a waste of time ( for my talent and patience ).
The stand offs are adjustable ( to a point ) and the table sits nicely and is a level I as can get.
It made the process simple.
Another Canadian here too… I got my 4SL from robotshop.com , an authorized C3D retailer in Quebec. You can save on exchange rates and duties etc. Because they are an authorized retailer you still get all the perks of being a C3D customer like trg sessions and warranty
I just ordered the adjustable legs, I think they will work good, thanks for the insight.
I wanted to order from the robot shop but they didn’t have stock and expected in stock date is 5-6 weeks out. I didn’t want to wait that long. They also don’t offer the spindle kit so I would have had to order that from C3D any how.
