I am currently using Lasergrbl but thinking of upgrading to Lightburn. How is the learning curve on this S/W. Can it be loaded on mutiple computers. Any feedback would be appreciated.
TLDR: easy enough to use, grab a trial and give it a go. It’s not super intuitive but the docs and community support more than make up for it. (I wouldn’t expect to just click around and “figure it out” you’ll save headache by heading to the docs sooner rather than later)
I spent two days with the trial and that was convincing enough to buy it outright. The experience for the usual laser stuff has been great so far.
As far as learning curve, I’d say it’s a pretty shallow curve and there is a ton of community support to help you out. Not a ton of effort required to get up to speed and get good results… but if you really want to dial things in absolutely perfectly, there’s definitely some rabbit holes you can fall down. (Which is great, it allows you to tweak so much to get things juuuuust right)
I got their webcam recently and I’ll be setting it up today so I don’t have feedback on the computer vision features. I expect they’ll be pretty approachable though.
For licensing on multiple computers and such, it’s always best to look at the vendors most recent docs. I’ve got it installed and activated on multiple pcs with one license but I never use more than one at a time so ![]()
I never used lasergrbl so cannot compare it to LB. I caught onto LB reasonably quickly. I would strongly recommend that you join the LAHobbyguy’s forum. It is free and he offers free config files for LB and a great deal of advice on using it to its full potential.
