Limestone Milling Update

I just wanted to give an update on milling limestone with my shapeoko. I ended up making a “milling bath” with some cut down plastic buckets. I ended up making a “water shroud” to contain the splashing (so far it’s working out great!) The milling bath is working great, I haven’t had any dust accumulate. If anyone is thinking of doing something similar I’d be happy to share my lessons learnt.

Here’s a picture of what I ended up carving.

wow that is amazing! What speeds and feeds and bit did you use? Also where did you get the material?

For most of the cutting I used a regular 1/4" end mill. D.O.C 1/4" Feed: 35in/min Optimal Load: 0.06in
For the detail work I used parallel passes with a 1/8" ball end mill. Feed: 50in/min Stepover: 0.01"

I was given the material. A friend is working on a project for a church and I am helping him with the trickier pieces.
