Linear Array Explaination

I am trying to create a wood lathe indexing wheel. The wheel needs 72, 60 and 49 .125" holes. I created the 72 .125" holes and somehow accidentally got things to about the correct diameter on the wheel. I then tried the 60 but cannot figure out how to get the size diameter of the circle I need.

Can someone please explain how the linear array for a circle works.

Here is what I am trying to replicate.

Here is a screen shot and the X and Y keeps reverting to 7" no matter what I change it to. Very puzzling. The 72 just accidentially worked and I dont know how I made it work.

In the past I have posted and very nice people would just make the corrections. I appreciate that kind of help but I really just want to understand how to make it work. It is the old saying “Give a man a fish and he eats today but teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime”.

While still in the Circular Array Dialog, you can move the original circle. That does not move the center, so you can change the diameter of the array that way.

Draw the circle spaced from the center at the desired distance:

and then set the numbers as desired.

If you’ll let us know the specifics of dimension and so forth, we’ll look into this with you.

What I do is draw the hole size required, in your case 1/8". Enter the number of holes needed and select “Full Circle”. Now go back up to the “Pick Center in Window” and click that. Click the center of the work piece. Now use the left and right arrow keys to increase and decrease the bolt hole circle.
