So im just starting to learn lol take it easy on me!
I did a advanced V carve in carbide using 1/4 in bit then the 90°V carve bit. Not sure where im going wrong here, it has a random hole above the P and the grove in the T and leaves the lines around the edges.
Maybe i didnt set bittom starting 0 right? I have the bit setter.
Shapeoko 5 4x4
Thanks!
How did you manage the tool change?
What is the depth per pass set to?
I use the bit setter that comes with the shapeoko 5 pro. Depth per pass 0.090 for the 1/4 and 0.080 for the 90°
Did anything mechanically interfere?
Is everything secure and all hardware mechanically sound?
Install a probing pin, power up, then grab the pin by the tip and try pushing, pulling, and shifting it from side-to-side and up/down and back/forth — does it move in any way? Investigate and address.
Try a full-depth finishing pass with each tool?
Will do! I will try all that then report.
Only interference i can think of is the sweepy boot got jamed up a bit with shavings. Not in a big way or anything, but thats all i can think of.
Thank you for the ideas and support!
It’s frustrating I know! Same thing happened to me on something I was working on. I have a call with Carbide on Monday and plan to address it. If I learn anything before you resolve it I’ll let you know. I’m new so definitely feeling the growing pains!
