Looking at the Shapeoko r, xxl

To start with this is all new to me. I have been doing woodworking for many years but have never used a CNC machine. I just recently became very interested in the CNC machines. I’m thinking hard on purchasing the Shapeoko XXL CNC machine. Checking with carbide 3d they no longer have the dewalt or Makita router with it. They now have one of their own sold with it. Does anyone have the Shapeoko with their router and if so how do you like it. I can order the machine without the router and purchase the dewalt separately, however; not sure if it would be worth it.

Thank you

The Carbide Compact Router should be much the same as the Makita, just without accessories, in a different colour, and with a longer cord.

While the Carbide offering is interesting and priced right, I’m partial to the Makita, I think it is a better product overall. A router is the same wherever you get from. With a bit of research you can find a Makita or Dewalt for $100 https: //www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-6-5-Amp-1-1-4-HP-Corded-Fixed-Base-Variable-Speed-Compact-Router-with-Quick-Release-RT0701C/204247210
You can also get collets in size 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 2mm, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm from several sources for the Makita and operates at speeds from 10K to 30K.

Not exactly for example the minimum speed is 13000 vs 10,000 for the Makita.

Not certain also that all the Makita collets will fit as it is not indicated.
