Looking for a table for the Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x2

Workbench looks great!

Something to keep in mind, the machine tends to vibrate, and also ‘racks’ back and forth. You may find a diagonal cross member between the legs helps stiffen things up nicely.

It is really stiff now. I can’t get anything to move.
After I put the top and bottom shelf on it, I am also going to put a piece of plywood across the back. That will help stiffen it up. I may also put some on the sides too.

Hello all I am working on a custom table for my pro 5. It is really hard to find a good sturdy table that really fits the machine good flat tables will help a lot with accuracy and keep the machine running smooth. This is what I have so far all CNC machined for my little CNC. Still need to machine caster plates plates and add top and shelf I will add more pic’s as I progress.

Very nice. I wish I have the I could have done one like mine with metal like you did.

I used the Kreg table components. I used two sides of 64 inches and two sides of 44 inches. There is about 5-6 inches to spare side to side and about 11 inches front to back. My Pro5 hangs over the back by about 1/2 inch but that’s OK because because the “feet” are set back quite a ways. The space in front gives we a small work surface while using the system.

The biggest problem I had was because I chose not to mount the control equipment on the walls. The main controller is on the right near the back when looking at it. I have it on a power strip so I don’t need direct access regularly. I use a long USB cable to run to the nearest bench (my homemade MFT) for a place to put a small Windows 11 tablet. The spindle controller is on the left near the front. I put it there because I am using the button on it to enable and disable it while changing bits. Be sure you work every bit of spare length on the spindle cable. It really should be about 6 inches longer.

I did install the wheels and I am glad. I first started where I had an open space in the garage, but reorganized the shop to place the Pro5 in front of the garage door. Without the wheels it would have been impossible. Some warm, dry, day I hope to open the garage doors so I can try using a full 4x8 panel.

I created a framework overhead with 1x3s to support dust collection and lighting. The hose is one of those super flexible ones from Rockler. I have it feeding into a cyclone separator that I connect to a Ridgid Shop Vac. The hose can slide back and forth on ball bearing shower curtain loops.

I used maple 3/4 inch (actually 18mm) that I finished with shellac to make it easy to keep clean. Be sure to put the lower panel in BEFORE you are fully assembled. It was very hard to do it after the CNC was on top because the opening is not large enough for 48 inches, even diagonally.

I made my own table very similar to “Attroll’s” picture with 4x4 legs, 2x4 framing and a sheet of 3/4" plywood on the top to fit the 4x2 Shapeoko perfect. It took me a couple hours to build it. I used these casters from Amazon. It is rock solid and mobile.

I have some of those casters, not a fan.

I upgraded the table I move around the most to these, so much nicer.

I have an S4 and I needed a quick fix on a table. You might laugh but I bought my “temporary” kitchen table from WalMart for I believe $110, and added strength underneath with 1"X4" pieces in a grid fashion and glued to the table. It has a somewhat laminated top under which it is a heavy MDF material. It has round legs and is movable, just not with casters or other wheels. Being a a’temporary" table it has been in place over 2 years now. The bad part of this is that the legs should have been adapted to adjustable and are not. Still, the lamination makes for a clean, nice looking “wooden” table. I’ve never intended to use a surround on this and it would not be a good choice for such anyway. I’ve had no problems with the table other than I should build a storage system for underneath the table to store bits & tools. Hey, if it ain’t broke, no need to fix it!!

They are great machines everyone wants one but giving it a good home is always the big question. I want to solve that so this is what I am working on.

I bought a drafting table off of marketplace and the 4x2 fit perfectly. You also will get 2 drawers.

All most ready for a test drive monitor mount tomorrow and ready to surface wast board. Really happy with the table supper flat and strong. Baltic Burch plywood comes in 5x5 sheets so the top is one solid piece the table has the center support bar so I was able to add a few holes in the base frame and fasten the machine to the table. Now that the machine is rigid with the table the gantry shift is a real option still need to design the tee slot bracket that will mount to the front of the table to clamp boards so you can work on the end.
