Lost Connection To Cutter - info

I don’t know what changed - but suddenly my xxl pro was losing connection to cutter ALOT.

it would happen just after initializing, would happen while cutting, would happen randomly - all started late yesterday afternoon. It would lose connection a couple of times a minute… reinitialize, lost connection, reinitialize, etc.

I tried it with the dust collector hose unconnected to sweepy and still had disconnects - so it wasn’t static electricity.

I then noticed that when I moved the power adapter box that feeds the control board I could get it to disconnect. I also had the USB cable from the computer running over top of the power box - but it’s been like this for months (yearr?)

After moving the power box so it’s away from the USB cable i haven’t had a single disconnect today. I thought I bought shielded USB cable - but I’ll have to double check that. But I don’t know why this is suddenly an issue since I’ve had the cables set like this for as long as I can remember.

Just another data point for this problem that seems to crop up intermittently for the user base.

Usually when this come up after a period of successful usage it is caused by the carbon brushes in the router wearing down.

Ah - that’s something I didn’t consider- I’ll check those after this job completes - It’s been running now for 1.5 hours with no issues, so I suspect if it was brushes it would have failed by now in light of how many disconnects I was having prior.

My original controller had a loose usb connection. I took an adhesive wire tie holder and stuck it about 3 inches from the usb port and secured it with a wire tie to support it.
