Machine is losing zero

So I have the shapeoko XXL 3 with the lead screw z axis. I started to rough a project tonight using the z-level approach with a max cut depth of .125". About 1/4 of the way through the first pass the machine dropped down about another .125 and was cutting almost a quarter inch at a time. I stopped it and went to check the zero and it was different. I re zeroed it and tried again. It ran past where it had the first issue and did it again about half way through first pass. Stopped and restarted and sped the router up. Ran through the first 4 passes without issue and near the end of 5th it did it again. I checked the bit tightness to make sure it wasn’t slipping out and it was still tight. Could my collet be bad?
Where my finger is is the depth it was supposed to be at. You can see where it dropped down to.

Check that your bit is tight in the collet. There is no reason other than a mechanical for the machine to suddenly cut deeper. Make a mark on the bit at the collet and if it hapens again check the mark. The Z-Plus and HDZ are very hard to make it loose steps but it can happen if you hit something. Your picture does not show any obstacles you might have hit so check the collet and double check your v-wheels on the Z carriage.
