I have not used my Shapeoko in a couple of months and today I powered it up and connected it to my laptop and it kept telling me it couldnt connect. No Grbl found was maybe a message I got? I heard the chimes my laptop makes when the power turns on but still wouldn’t connect. I downloaded the latest version of motion and now its trying to get me to connect to a new machine. I select my Shapeoko pro and then on the next page it asks me to make sure my machine is turned on but then it never connects to it. I am unable to click next. It has just sat idle for 10 minutes or so. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Okay, if both switches (in-line power on cord and lighted power switch at front corner) are on and the machine won’t connect, the first thing to do is to unplug the power supply from the wall and the machine, wait 30 minutes or so, then try again.
If that still doesn’t allow a connection, things to try:
different USB cable
different USB port
different computer
If you do all that and things still don’t connect and you’re still under warranty, contact support.
If out of warranty, then a new controller may be necessary (or maybe a new power supply — if you have a friend w/ a multimeter have them check the power supply for voltage?) — they’re on a hidden page in the shop:
(be sure to pick the right option in the drop-down)
I unplugged for about 45 mins. Changed the cable to a different USB port and the machine connected. I then downloaded for the pro with HDZ in XXL. When I then tried to initialize my machine it drove the Z axis straight down and continued to grind until I shut of the Machine. I rebooted my computer and turned back on the machine and same result. Drives the Z axis straight down until I shut it off upon initialization. Any other thoughts?
Thanks for your help, I received a phone call from service and got me going again. Unplugging the power supply for 30 mins definitely made a difference. Thanks for all the help.
