Whatever you can source inexpensively — I usually use pine from pallets from the local stores.

Hi Will,

I can’t seem to find the “Kyocera 90 degree 1/8” v end mill" that you used in one of the toolpaths. Can you send me a link for the bit, please, and I’ll order one?

Also, there are no toolpaths in the lid file. Was that an accident?

They are small and brittle, I’d suggest some spares — if you order certain quantities the packaging expands to match and is quite nice.
