Malfunctioning X Motor

I was cutting some shapes out of HDPE (without the dust shoe on) and the X-motor started going nuts, I dissasembled at and found this.

Does anyone know if this is fixable, or if I need to order a new motor?

Also, does anyone know why this happens? I’ve had no problem cutting any hard materials, but everytime I try to cut HDPE without the dust shoe on this happens

I see a missing grub screw or is there something else to be seeing?

If need be, it should be possible to loosen the pulley set screws, adjust the position of the pulley so that the belt tracks true, then re-secure w/ the pulley set screws.

If you have difficulties with this, let us know at support@carbide3d.com

I disasebled for the photo, I have the grub screw

The Y motors don’t look like this (see photo). The protruding column in the center of the spindle is flush on all the other motors, I presume this one is supposed to be like that as well?

I would suggest you look at the belt and center it as best you can to the lower pulleys, then make sure one of the grub screws is tightened on the flat area of the shaft. Get them both good and tight but not too tight. Too tight is broke. While you are at it, would be a good time to check all the grubs on the other steppers.

When you reassemble, put a witness mark on the pulley with a sharpie to do a one second visual check. You will be able to see if it has moved
