MC Etcher Getting Destroyed

I have engraved one mirror (about 4 hours) with each of the 90 and 120-degree MC Etchers, and they are showing heavy damage. The 90 degrees will no longer etch glass. I am using the recommended settings for feed rate and depth. What am I doing wrong, or how do I make these tools last longer?

Have not used the etcher, but cut my fair share of glass. The tip will wear. I got in the habit of using lube. WD40 worked great or 3 in one oil, even used water for small jobs.

Maybe someone who has used the etcher has a better perspective.
