Really nice finish on the project! The end grain is a really nice touch.
Really nice display. I recently completed a military memorabilia display case for my father inlaw’s memorabilia. He had two swords. One was a Marine Corp Association Ceremonial sword and a WWII Japanese NCO Sword he removed from a North Korean soldier he dispatched. His daughters really appreciated it.
The two pictures of him in boot camp during WWII and a later one in his dress blues. The pictures were edited in Affinity Photo. He was in the occupation of Okinawa and was in the reserves. He went to school after WWII and became a teacher. When the Korean war broke out he was recalled. He was in the Chosin Resivior one of the first battles of the Korean War. The US landed the Marines in the winter with no winter gear. They were placed in the dry Chosin Resivior where the Chinese and North Korean soldiers surrounded them and had the high ground. The Marines beat them back with high casualties on both sides. My father inlaw won the purple heart for his efforts in that epic battle. Like many of his generation he never discussed his military career. Thank God for the brave men that defend our country.
The cabinet was made of black walnut I got from SFA University. I made the sword holders on my SO3. I also had engravings of MARINES on both sides of the cabinet and on his memorial flag case I engraved and epoxy filled his name an USMC with his sargent stripes. I am currently making another memorial flag case for my brother inlaw’s father was was a Master Sargent in the US Army.
Happy 250th Anniversary of the Marine Corps.
Nice work. God Bless the Marines.
Thanks for the comment and really enjoyed the back story on your father inlaw’s case and service.
