I’m curious what the minimum enclosure dimensions are for the 5 Pro 35.5 in(X) x 35 in(Y) x 21 in(Z) machine (with the 65mm Spindle and J Tech HDM All-in-One Laser and Mounting Kit) if viewing is not a priority?
I’m also a bit confused because they give the footprint specs above, but the image they give does not match their content (see image attached).
I assume additional room must be needed for the hose, power cord, USB etc, but I don’t know. Thanks for any input!
The footprint is for the base of the machine and hard-mounted machine components (ex. stepper motor). The image you attached is the minimum recommended bounds if you wanted the machine to not overhang a workbench or fit in an enclosure. Obviously, if you want to run large vacuum hoses along the machine or something, this will need to be adjusted.
Most people that build enclosures would have made their enclosures larger. Larger because maintenance and cleaning have to be done Plus putting material on the Shapeoko bed you dont want have to crawl inside to put the material in. A vacuum hose needs to be high enough (length) to roam all over the bed without getting snagged. You also want your stand on locking casters and at least the front and back doors to open up so you can access the machine for maintenance and cleaning as well as tiling if you want to do that.
