Minimum mm for stock size Carbide Create Pro?

My metal is 15mm x 30mm. I am cutting out a piece that is 10mm x 14mm. The software keeps changing my measurements to 25mm x 30mm instead of what I enter. If I put in other sizes like 10mm x 15mm, the software changes it to 25mm x 25mm. Is 25mm x 25mm the smallest size the software will accept?

Yes, 25mm Ă— 25mm for width/height are the minimum dimensions.

This is very unfortunate, why limiting the size? Many people work with small stock sizes. I was also very surprised when this happened to me in Carbide Create.

The stock size in CC does not need to actually match your real stock. I have my stock size set to the full size of my 1219.2mm X 1219.2 bed on my S5 Pro and I am currently machining 43mm gears with 1mm wide teeth out of brass out of 150mm x 150mm wide sheets of brass. You can have tool paths much smaller than The stock size. It just takes planning. I am sure the stock size limitation is there for a programming limitation of some sort.

Note however, that using the full size will result in the pixel image used for the 3D model being scaled across the entire bed.

The pixel image will be able to capture more detail if the Stock area is as small as-is-possible for the current project.

They just did a good job of explaining the limitations of tool names in a request features discussion. Would be helpful to have this limitation explained too. I work in silver that is cut by the supplier in 1” by whatever sheets. I know I can enter larger dimensions and do work arounds—that is what I do. But why have to if it’s not necessary?

Most likely there is a some programming related issue when using a stock value under a certain size. The 3D renderer might not handle zooming properly or something like that.

Thanks, surely there are workarounds but it would be awesome if we didn’t need them, maybe these software were initially programmed with that size limitation, hopefully it’s not a programming limitation that can’t be resolve nowadays
