So - perhaps a crazy mash-up, but has anyone created a Myers Wasteboard layout specifically for the Carbide T-Track Kit for those of us who want the best/worst or both worlds?
Baring someone else being that crazy, are the t-track set design vectors anywhere?
On my Shark Pro Plus HD I put a combination T-Track and 1/4-20 Tee nut combo. I did cut the T tracks with a router bit and they are not aluminum. For me the T-track is not valuable. I prefer the cam clamps with the Myers wasteboard. I also use oops clamps and the Carbide3d Gator clamps.
Everyone uses their Shapeoko in a different way and T-tracks may work for some. For me they are useless. But I also prefer the low profile clamps but I only carve wood and not metal. For metal the forces are greater and you need the metal parts to stay put.
Some folks also like the painters tape and super glue route. I have superglue but dont like the extra trouble of the tape and glue. Many use the tape and sg and love it.
The bottom line are there are many ways to lock your work down. Sometimes you need to use multiple ways to lock down different projects. Use them all if needed buy most have a preferred method that is the go to way.
I did the Myers Waseteboard on my XXL t-track system. I unscrewwed the three main panels, flipped the three pieces. Make sure to do a full flip as if it were one piece. This means left flips to right and right flips to left and middle flips in the middle. I then measured out where the t-tracks would be and eliminated two columns of thread holes. Once it was all carved, i put the t-screws in and flipped back to the correct places. It then gives me the best of both worlds. T-tracks work, and t-scews are there.
When this waste board is exhausted, I may consider removing the t-tracks and go straight Meyers.
I’ve been thinking about the same thing.
I especially like the idea of having a set 0 point using a fence.
If anyone has done a file I too would appreciate it.
Thought you broke up with your Shapeoko over on YouTube. Even though your old Shapeoko was not too good looking your new squeeze did not look much better.
