Need Help with V Carve

I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried doing this multiple times and I’m at the point where I’m thinking about getting rid of the CNC, a Shapeoko 5 2x4. It’s more frustrating than fun.

I’m using a 20 degree V bit because the others weren’t working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How does this compare to the 3D preview in your file?

Post your .c2d file?

The #501 and #502 engraving tools aren’t really intended for V carving — a 60 degree #301 should work well in wood for this.

Will Adams,
Here you go and thanks.

Switching to a #302 and moving the Eagle inner toolpath up reduces tool changes to one, and using a #201 instead of a #102 reduces the time a bit — preview looks good:

(aside from my not having the font used)

One thing which might help on the text aspect is to use Center:

and then to align to the center of the stock:

Please do at least a couple of cuts w/ standard tooling so as to get a feel for things before branching out into custom tooling.
