Needed a replacement

I’ve gone through a few of the Sweepy Dust Boots. The plastic tends to break after a while with constant adjustment of the cam lock. So i decided to make a replacement out of something a little more durable. Delrin or polyethylene would have been nice but I didn’t have access to any of that so I went with Baltic Birch. Glued up a couple of panels for 1.5 inches thickness and used the cam and magnets from a broken one. Had to order longer M4 bolts. Turned out pretty well and works like a charm. Very happy with myself.

That’s a nice design. I don’t use the cam lock anymore. I have it adjusted so I tighten the bolts in a cam locked position. I do it on every tool change.

Just manually change the file extension to PDF.
This file actually has the CRV file extension. To open the download, in File Explorer, select View, File Name Extensions. Now the file extensions should appear. Next, rename the file back to .crv or your preferred format

So after a few days of use I find that reversing the cam lock, so you pull it towards the front to lock, is better than the original Sweepy version. When pushed away with this design it’s difficult to get your finger behind it to unlock. Here’s a photo of the new orientation.
