New 5.1, legs, and enclosures

So I like the idea of the legs for the new 5.1, and am considering the upgrade when the rails are available for my 5.0, but I also want an enclosure at some point

It is hard to tell by the picture I saw, but it looked like the legs are set back from the side rails. How would one attach an enclosure?

Side question, has carbide 3d ever considered an official enclosure kit?

Also do the legs include somewhere to mount the electronics. I also have the 80mm vfd spindle and chiller, but the chiller is fine on the floor.

At this point, it’s early days.

That said, it’s a 4 bent powder-coated steel legs w/ some holes — pretty easy to add more. (It really reminds me of a workbench my father made ages ago out of a bunch of lengths of steel angle which he’d picked up somewhere — annoyingly, the movers refused to ship it at the next PCS, so it had to be left behind — I do have one short length, and really should take the time to identify it and see about getting enough to recreate that bench…)

For folks who are upgrading, having 4 aluminum tubes of the same length as the width of the machines seems promising.

An official enclosure kit would be a big reach due to pricing and shipping issues, but maybe someday.

Thanks will. I took another look at the blog post. I’m more awake than I was last night when I first looked at it. I do see there seem to be some extra mounting holes, and holes for leveling feet/casters, which is good.

Im currently setup on the big kreg table, with good heavy duty machine casters. Leveling is important as I’m in a garage and as we all know the floors are intentionally sloped towards the door/driveway for drainage purposes, so levelling is essential.

I’d love to re use the kreg table as an assembly table since I’ve not gotten around to building one yet! Then I could use my limited shop time on something else ( like adding drawers to the kreg table, or the router table I’ve been planning, or maybe an actual non shop project! ).

And I’ll throw in the obligatory, " I wish this would have been out last year when I bought my machine" but it’s super cool that you have made it an upgradeable option for those of us in that boat.

Keep up the good work!
