New beta of Carbide Motion --- 4.14

New beta of Carbide Motion: https://carbide3d.com/carbidemotion/beta/ — should help with the arc error in Autodesk Fusion 360 — also set Minimum Circular Radius to ~4mm

Hi, that sounds great.
Question, why is minimum radius to be 4mm?
Thanks!

Somewhere in the CAM setup for Autodesk Fusion 360 there is a setting which governs how arcs are generated.

Grbl and Autodesk Fusion 360 in some instances disagree on how arcs are calculated, resulting in files generating error messages when sent to the machines.

It is hoped that the changes in CM4 build 414 and the afore-mentioned adjustment in Fusion 360 will address this.

Here are the release notes - doesn’t really say much about what they did regarding the 4mm. I’ll speculate that for very small arcs (4mm) they are now issuing multiple short lines, but again, just a guess.

  • (FIX) Arcs should now work with relative coordinates (G91)
  • (NEW) Arcs with small errors that might trigger a GRBL runtime error are now corrected
  • (NEW) Server port will change if 8080 is taken
  • (NEW) New icon
