I have been running my machine for 2yrs+ now with little to no issues; however, after installing the newest Carbide Motion I cannot connect to the machine. Windows device manager says everything is fine with the port and usb cable, it reads it as a shapeoko 3 with up to date drivers. I have uninstalled &reinstalled software, power-cycled all devices, I even reverted to the old CM and still ended up with the same error code, and I am stumped as to what to do next. anyone got suggestions?
Probably this is coincidental.
New controllers are on a hidden page in our shop:
(just be sure to pick the right option from the drop-down)
From how back did you update. There has to be a certain firmware level to use the newer CM. Likely that is not your problem but you should check it. Reinstall the older version of CM to make sure it works. You can see the firmware version. Contact support if you need the application to update firmware. It is likely listed here on the forum.
I updated to CM 640, then reverted to CM 582, do I need to go back further?
what version did you upgrade from? go to that. If it works you can see if it is a firmware issue or something else.
I reverted to the CM 582 build that I was using and it still won’t connect. Where do I look to check which firmware I’m running?
If the older version worked before your problem is something else. Maybe cable or controller. Call support for help.
Thanks for the help guys, I found the problem. combing through older but similar threads, someone mentioned bluetooth might be hogging the com3 or 4 port; I turned off blutooth, rebooted, and it connected on the CM 582; although I’m still not sure I’m brave enough to do the new CM upgrade again.
