New everything still no game pad

Like the title says - I have a new Windows 11 laptop with Carbide Motion 618 and a brand new Logitech F710 Game Pad. I have initialized the machine and can move around with the on screen keys and the mouse. The game pad works - I can press the Logitech button and it pops up a game launcher and I can move around that. But in Carbide Motion I get NOTHING AT ALL.

Is there some trick to making this thing work?

I believe this is broken in current versions of CM — it has been noted and we are looking into how to address it.

I use a gamepad by remapping the buttons to keys:

I find the game controller and numeric keypad layouts a bit confusing (also, my son lay claim to the second Logitech F310 since he left his at college), and while I love the click on my wonderful 6 Key Keyboard (Techkeys SixKeyBoard CNC Edition) I find I need to change the jog rate often enough when using my Shapeoko that it has been consigned to the far corner of the basement for use with my Nomad (and I am anxiously awaiting the 3x3 version).
