New Guy - 3/15/18. Should I start with Carbide Motion V4?

Hello All:

Waiting for my Shapeoko 3D in the mail. Practicing on carbide create. I just installed Carbide Motion V4 and I’m wondering if that’s the best version to start off with?

Carbide Motion 3 matches Grbl 0.9 which is what the machines ship with — stick with that unless

  • you have a Carbide Probe
  • you need Grbl 1.1-specific features such as feed rate override
  • you wish to help with testing, see: GRBL 1.1 and Carbide Motion 4

hopefully we’ll have a formal release sometime soon.
