I have a Shapeoko Pro XXL - uses belts except on the Z-axis. The Windows 11 tablet I was using to run the Pro died. I decided to use my Dell laptop instead. I downloaded the latest version of Carbide Motion - Build 618, which I haven’t used before. I selected “Setup New Machine” and went through answering the questions. When the machine moved to the pre-set Bit Setter location - it was off by inches. My questions:
Was I right in selecting “Setup New Machine”? I thought so since this was a new version of Carbide Motion on a new computer.
Thanks - once I got out of panic mode - that’s where I went.
My Z-axis seems off though. The cut was to be 0.75" it went to just over 1.0" deep. I set zero at the top of the workpiece in the center on the workpiece and made three cuts. All three were over 0.25" deeper than programmed. Could the Z-axis position have changed when I configured the system after doing the new setup?
The HDZ has more steps per MM than a Z-Plus. That is why with a Z-Plus you are going deeper because a number of steps are sent and because the HDZ is moving at a different spacing than the Z-Plus that is why the pocket is deeper.
