Hi all,
Im new here. Just picked up a Shapeoko 3 Z plus XXL yesterday and carried it into the house.
My first order of business is building a bench for this machine.
It was a 2 person lift to bring it in the house and had to be carried on its side to get throughthe doors. I hope i didn’t do anything wrong by carrying it by the Y axis frame and spoilboard.
What are the first orders of business to perform to ensure squareness after transport? Anything else i should do before I fire it up?
Being a new to me tool. Im so tempted to try using it as it is sitting on the basement floor.
Measure the diagonals, and if need be, loosen, square up, then tighten — remember to work from large->small, so level table, level Y-axis rails and ensure parallel to each other, gantry level and plumb, X-axis carriage level and plumb, Z-axis carriage level and plumb.
Check how the drag chains are secured, and adjust as necessary.
If the anything needs to be researched or replaced, we have a page on the SO3:
