I’ve noticed the Carbide3D YouTube channel hasn’t put out any new content for the past 4-5 months. It’s got me wondering: is that good news (in that you’re gearing up for a new rotary release or something), or not so good news?
There should be some news next week barring some unanticipated difficulty — sign up for our Newsletter if you have not:

Not sure if it will be accompanied by a video or no, but I have been doing some testing, and the new products are awesome (but I’m biased, and they are a perfect fit for my setup (that’s a clue)).
Moreover, we have been busy — the new Carbide Create has just been pushed to stable:
after a lengthy beta test and Carbide Motion got updated as well:
and we updated the HDM to v3:
(which was a sufficiently large change that we updated the product listing)
What would you want to make with a rotary?
What would Will Adams think is perfect for Will Adams ![]()
Products…they…hmmmmm ![]()
Multiple items, working in tandem, perfect for Will Adams.
I’m going to guess, an inflatable dome you can fill with helium and drop over your machine to easily attenuate 30db of sound aaaaaand a vacuum that sucks up swarf while automatically sorting the chips by material. Maybe it drops the aluminum into a forge, the wax into a melting pot, and the wood into a compaction machine to make briquettes automagically.
Yeah, that’s probably it.
Hey Will,
I’ve signed up now but I don’t see any option for viewing the newsletter. I guess it’s only available if I was part of the email list at the time it was sent out… Do you have a link?
Thanks for that info - I’ve downloaded the latest version for Motion and create now!
I’ve not opened my shapeoko 5 I ordered 2.5 months ago yet coz of house works, but I hope to good gracious it’s not a shapeoko 6 because this happened when I bought the shapeoko pro (the 5 came out 2 months later).
As for rotary, I mean, having a rotary would complete the capability set of the 3-axis layout of the shapeoko to being able to do stuff like busts with speed and simplicity. I did get into trying to do Busts like 2 years ago via multi-sided machining (on MPCNC); spent a long time learning and practicing, but it was not accurate enough, was not repeatable, and was very slow. Only 1 application, I know, but a rotary would be an enabler, so it’s an exciting prospect I would 100% buy right now. It’s just 1 example of an accessory but perhaps some of these other ones you mention would also be on my list!
Unfortunately, older issues of the Newsletter don’t seem to be available (asked about this on team chat).
Probably the most notable example of carving in the round would be:
Mostly though, folks seem to just do chess pieces…
Maybe if we could get Luke to make such a device, I would finally make the Gingery lathe I’ve been considering for decades now…
At least I did finally replace my paperback original vol. 2 with:
New user manual for Carbide create?
and
should all be up-to-date for the current version.
If you find anything which needs to be updated or corrected or which might be improved, please let me know and we will look into it.
A lot of us have been tied up preparing for and working trade shows lately (Vegas, Austin, Des Moines, etc), which set back video production. I’m hoping to have a video out in the next few days.

I thought I just wasn’t able to find new videos. Glad to hear more will be released and you’ve just been busy. I’ve learned so much from them.
