Not sure what happened here. Machine went below 0

So… Jacked up my bit and even got down into the aluminum :frowning: I checked and rechecked the thickness. I had z offsets set. The bit set was used during bit changes. Thank goodness for that emergency stop button  after I reset the machine I went back and checked the offset again. Sure enough I had enough room that I would have left a small amount of material on the bottom and should not have even hit my waste board…

What could happen to cause it to plunge so deep? Why would the machine go so deep below 0 on the z?

Possible causes here:

Learned something new today… Just went out and sure enough the bit pulled… It looks like I did not get it snug enough. Sadly the bit is trashed but… Worse things could have happened.
