I did a search on this but turned up nothing…Maybe I didn’t put the appropriate search phrase……But I know I have read about this somewhere about this on this forum.
Today I was routing out a small project:
And noticed the (4) .2110 through holes were cut oblong. I was using a .125 compression bit to cut these.
I set out to check for the obvious causes and only found the Z-Axis plate (not the aluminum router mount itself) had side to side play (not much at all).
I went back over the assembly instructions that came with my machine and found no mention of tightening the eccentric nuts on the V-Wheels (if that is what they are) at any time, and that’s where the movement seems to be between wheels and rail on the XZ-Axis plate.
Is there a way to tighten these or should it have a little play against the V-Rails?
Another thought, could the plunge rate cause oblong holes if to aggressive? And maybe this bit is a tad bit to large?
Thanks Will for the links…But I don’t see the answer to my problem.
If these nuts on the v-wheels are eccentric nuts for the life of me I can’t see a way to tighten them. I have checked all other parts of the machine and only found play mentioned above.
I just bought this machine in December-19
Am I missing something here?
I went back out to the shop and after “opening my eyes” I was looking at something else from the picture! The nuts are in full access from the front of the plate. I tighten them and all seems well now!
@WillAdams Sorry will for not investigating it thoroughly before posting!
