i have a new 5.1 pro and twice now i have had a drop of oil fall to the spoil board from somewhere around the z axes of vfd spindle. has anyone else had this happen
Yes.
I keep a rag underneath the Z-axis on all of my machines w/ an HDZ, and when cutting wood, am careful to wipe off the bottom before each operation, and to not leave the carriage parked over the wood while it is clamped in place.
If you perform maintenance of oiling the bearings and rails you will get the drips of oil for a few days. If yours is new it will stop after a little while. As @WillAdams suggested put a paper towel under the parked Z and wipe off the very bottom of your rails when starting up a job. The excess oil will stop dripping. However you must perform maintenance of oiling your bearings and rails so this dripping will reoccur.
I had the same issue when I first received my Pro XL. It is rare now but as others have said Iām careful not to leave the project under the spindle. I also wipe it down occasionally.
