Old Dog Needs a New Version C Motion

I’m running a fairly old Shepeoko XXL 3 (I think 3) built in 2019. It’s been running pretty flawlessly on an also older version of Carbide Motion (Build 542) and an older laptop. I have a work and flow (no bit-setter or fancy upgrades) that I like, and I’m used to the manual jogging and machine control features like MDI etc. I also have an aftermarket Z, that has to have a few changes made to the settings (step distance, etc), but I’m happy with it all and just don’t want to burn a lot of time trying to reconfigure things…

My issue is that the laptop I’m using to run the CM software is about to crap out on me. I have a newer (Windows 10) laptop that will run the software, but I’m trying to determine which “build” of CM to load and run. Any recommendations, with as few needs to tweak this and that as possible. Thanks,

If you’ve got the install file of CM v542 then there’s no reason you couldn’t continue using it. You can even copy the settings file from you old laptop to the new one which should make using the new laptop a seamless shoe-in for the old one.

Looks like the oldest version of CM for Windows I’ve got handy is 579.

You might want to try the newest to see how you like it, you can always revert to the older version. If you need it, I have the v542 install file handy.
