Picking correct bit

How do you decide what bit to use for your project? I’m wanting to engrave the USMC Globe and Anchor into a piece of pine. What bit would I use a v carve, end mill or ball? I’m thinking v carve but then there are so many fine cuttings in it. V carve may be to much. Being new to this I don’t really know what one to use or what size.

This really all depends on your desired results as different bits, and different tool path settings could result one design to be cut in a multitude of ways.

If you post a file more ppl can jump in and help much quicker.

Look through the posts about how v carve bits really work. They can cut very fine details it’s just how much spacing is between the lines when you set the tool path. Different v bits will cut different depths.

Play around selecting objects and setting tool paths. Start with simple objects to see how each different operation will effect it. Simulation will give you 3d rendering of what cut will look like

How do I post the file I’m wanting to cut?
