Plunge Issues with Nomad Pro and CC 623

Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m using an ancient build of CC, but I believe it’s the last build that works with my Nomad Pro.

To get down to it, I’m working on a cut with tabs in the material, and as the tool drops back down after floating over the tab it slams back into the material as if the plunge rate isn’t considered for how the tool should re-enter the material. Is this a byproduct of an older build of CC or is there a setting somewhere that I’m not aware of? I keep stalling out the spindle on the material because slamming a 1/8 square endmill into mokume gane (brass/copper/nickel) doesn’t work. It is a full-thickness cut so stepover isn’t a consideration.

What version of Carbide Motion are you using?

Do you know what firmware your machine has?

I’m not sure of the version of CM

As for the machines firmware, as far as I know it’s the original that shipped with the Pro back in 2017. I haven’t updated the firmware. I initiated a conversation with you through email many moons back about updating to 1.1 from the current .9 that I have. I suppose it’s now time to do that.

That would be for the best:

Fair enough. I suppose I’ll revisit that email chain with you on Monday. For now, I’ve swapped a ball nose in for the square and it’s acting as a roughing pass for me. I’ll get panels off and pics sent your way Monday to start the process. Thanks @WillAdams.
